Frequently asked questions

Q: What is the difference between your facility and other 30-minute women's workout facilities?

A: One of the biggest differences is that our equipment has adjustable resistance settings. Our staff adjust the equipment on a daily basis to maximize the intensity of the workout and offer variety. Since the equipment is easy to adjust, it can be adapted to fit your fitness level and needs. Another big difference is that we offer fitness classes within the circuit at no additional cost to our members. Classes are currently offered two evening a week and are a great way to motivate, encourage, and make working out fun!

Q: When can I come to workout?

A: You can come to workout whenever it is convenient to you. You do not have to make an appointment after your first visit and you have unlimited access to our club. The dual hydraulic resistance on the equipment is similar to doing water aerobics, so members do not experience a lot of soreness, if any, which means that you can workout as many as 7 days a week!

Q: Why don't you offer month-to-month memberships?

A: Our philosophy is that exercise needs to become a part of our daily routine, just as waking up in the morning, showering, and doing our hair and makeup are. If you only allow yourself to sign up for one month, exercise will not become a habit and the results will only be minimal. For long-term health benefits, women need to exercise at least 3 times a week.

Q: Why do I have to make an appointment for my first visit?

A: During your first appointment we like to go over a fitness evaluation with you to find out what your exercise goals are and what you have tried in the past. We also like to orient you to the equipment and give you your free measurements and body fat analysis. By making an appointment you are assured that a staff member will be able to spend time orienting you to the program and answering questions you may have.

Q: Do you offer anything else with a membership?

A: Yes! Each month we reassess your progress and goals with you. We also offer on-going education on various health and fitness topics. We offer guidance in healthy eating and proper nutrition. We have weekly health topics and send out quarterly newsletters. We also have guest speakers present on various topics.

Q: Do you have cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes, etc.)?

A: We are committed to being a 30-minute strength/cardiovascular program for women. This means that in the time it takes you to get a complete strength training and cardiovascular workout (approximately 1 ½ hours) at larger clubs, you can get in just 30 minutes here. The strength training component of our program is really crucial, since it offers many health benefits. You can certainly supplement the program with cardiovascular training, however, we do not want women to make the mistake of replacing our circuit program with solely cardiovascular workouts.

Q: Will I look like a body builder after doing your workout?

A: The strength training that you are getting during the circuit aims more at toning and firming your body. You are replacing the existing fat with muscle, but the breakdown of muscle that you are getting is not enough to produce large, bulky muscles.

Q: How much weight/loss of inches can I expect?

A: Weight loss/loss of inches varies greatly from person-to-person depending on a number of factors: age, metabolic rate, body build, exercise frequency/time/ intensity, exercise history, etc. The average number of inches lost in the first month is 5-10 inches. Weight loss is much harder to determine since you are replacing fat with muscle. Muscle takes up less space, but weighs more, so inches lost is a better indicator of workout results.

Q: Do you promote dieting along with your workout program?

A: We certainly believe that good nutritional habits are an important part of a healthy lifestyle change. Currently, we do not sell supplements or diet products at our facility. Instead, we encourage our members to watch food portion sizes and overall balance of food groups. We do nutritional consulting and refer members on when we feel necessary.
